Ann Elliot, would always light up a room with warmth and kindness.
Her spirit—infectious and sincere—made it easy to imagine Ann 40 years ago mobilizing family, friends, and neighbors to deliver healthy, balanced meals and good-hearted warmth to neighbors in need. Ann, founded Friendship Trays, and, today, Friendship Trays is Charlotte’s primary meals-on-wheels program.
The Circle of Friendship is Friendship Trays’ first giving society. Donors who give to the Circle this year will become our Founding Friends. The Circle of Friendship honors our founder Ann and the legacy of those who paved the way for us, now serving more that 700 meals daily throughout our community.

The launch of The Circle of Friendship was an emotional and inspiring day for me. I witnessed first-hand how passionate you and your friends are for Friendship Trays and our mission. Sharing food and friendship, stories and concerns, laughter and a couple tears, together we strengthened the organization and ensured a future of more healthy meals and human connection for our aging and ill neighbors.

Since 1976 our mission at Friendship Trays has been to deliver nutritious meals to elderly or infirm individuals in the Charlotte community who are unable to obtain or prepare their own meals. We cook and courier a meal to the doorstep of over 700 recipients. But we deliver so much more than that. We deliver human connection to those that are isolated and lonely. We deliver peace of mind to the families of our recipients. It’s so much more than a meal.
